Established in 1998 and run by a team of dedicated and experienced lecturers, the Thai Language Programme at the National University of Singapore is one of the largest of its kind (Thai as a foreign language) in the world..

With a strong focus on cultivating intercultural communicative competencies and interpersonal skills required in the dynamic global arena of the 21st century, the programme not only aims to equip students with linguistic abilities, but also places an equally strong emphasis on the imparting of cultural knowledge.

As such, beyond the acquisition of crucial Thai langauge skills that will put students in good stead as the Southeast Asian nations bloc (ASEAN) grows in global significance, students can also look forward to gaining eye-opening cultural perspectives through the diversity of lesson materials, out-of-classroom trips, and overseas immersion programmes.

As one of the pioneering departments of the Centre for Language Studies, the Thai Language Programme team is committed to staying relevant, catering to the needs of all, and providing only the best experience for every student who comes through its doors.
An engaging, enriching, and rewarding experience awaits those who open their hearts to the Thai language and its culture!
